Project 23 (P23) is a coordination and incentivization protocol that enables humanity to train, evaluate, and monetize AI models. AI must be owned and governed not by a country or corporation, but by humanity as a whole.

To accomplish this:

Model architects must be incentivized to release cutting-edge models for use by the public.

Dataset architects must be incentivized to release cutting-edge datasets for use by models.

The public must pay a fee to use models. Fees finance the protocol and architects.

Cryptocurrency is an ideal medium of exchange for this purpose, as it’s cross-border, instantly settled, and doesn’t rely on any central governance.

Smart contracts would also enable decentralized governance and incentives of P23.

Incentives could be issued in the form of tokens that are tied to the network fees.

Training a particular model may be financed by the model architect (for visibility), the public (as an investment), or by donors (via a smart contract allocation)
